“Allium Spider” Originates From The Mediterranean And Central Asia”Allium Spider” Is A Hybrid Between Allium Schubertii And Allium Atropurpureum. It Bears Spiky, Firework Flowerheads, With Star-Shaped Dark Purple Florets With Bright Green Centres. It Is A Fantastic Choice For Large Containers And Sunny Borders And Works Well When Planted In Drifts, With Ornamental Grasses And Other Alliums. It Also Looks Wonderful In A Vase
The Large Oniony Bulb Of This Allium Produces A Basal Clump Of Bright Green, Lance-Shaped Leaves In Spring. These Have A Pungent, Oniony Fragrance When Crushed. The Giant Flowerheads Are Produced In Late Spring Or Early Summer And Consist Of An Umbrel Of Many Six-Petaled, Starry Flowers Of Luminescent Dark Purple. The Flowers Are Great For Cutting. Only One Will Fill A Vase. After Flowering And Fruit Set, The Foliage Will Die Back To The Ground Until The Following Spring.
