Native To The Mediterranean, The Poppy-Flowered “Anemone De Caen” Is A Tender, Perennial With Showy Flowers In Spring. Cultivars In The De Caen Group Are Distinguished By Large, Showy, Single Flowers With 5-8 Segments. Borne On Calf-High Stems Above Clumps Of Divided, Ferny Leaves, The Solitary, Poppy-Like Blooms Have A Dark Central Disc And A White Eye. Often Planted At Intervals To Provide Continual Year-Round Bloom In Mild Climates. Poppy-Flowered Anemone Can Also Be Used As An Early-Blooming Garden Perennial Where Hardy. The De Caen Group Was Introduced About 1870.
“Anemone” Can Also Be Planted In The Spring For Summer Flowering.
Happiest In A Site Shaded From Hot Sun, Anemone Coronaria Prefers Rich, Loamy Soil, Even Moisture And A Dry Rest After Bloom, Or They May Be Left In Permanently, When They Will Flower Annually In Spring. This Is A Good Plant For Texture And Colour In A Container, Moist Woodland, Or A Rock Garden. Flowers For 2-3 Weeks And Attracts Butterflies. The Flowers Are Excellent For Cutting. The Bulbs Are Required To Be Soaked Overnight Before Planting.
Anemones Are Notoriously Difficult To Become Established And May Take A Couple Of Years To Do So, So Please Be Patient.
