Native to the mediterranean, saint bridget anemone is a tender, perennial with showy flowers in spring. “mount everest” has white, semi-double flowers with three rows of “petals”. Borne on calf-high stems above clumps of divided, ferney leaves, the solitary, poppy-like blooms have a large green central disc. Often planted at intervals to provide continual year-round bloom. Poppy-flowered anemone can be used as an early-blooming garden perennial where hardy.
Anemone mount everest can also be planted in the spring for summer flowering
Happiest in a site shaded from hot sun, anemone coronaria prefers rich, loamy soil, even moisture and a dry rest after bloom, or they may be left in permanently, when they will flower annually in spring. Or can be planted almost any time where they are hardy. This is a good plant for texture and colour in a container, moist woodland, or a rock garden.
Flowers for 2-3 weeks and attracts butterflies. The flowers are excellent for cutting. The bulbs are required to be soaked overnight before planting,
Plant 6-7 cm deep 5-7 cm apart.
