Anemones
Anemones are also known as Wind Flowers. The first wholesale cut Anemones commercially available in the UK are usually imported from Israel and followed by the higher quality Dutch grown varieties later.
Dutch grown anemones have stronger stems and a longer vase life than the Israeli anemones. If you definately need anemones out of season, early in the year, use Israel - if not, it is well worth waiting for the Dutch.
These charming plants include both early-flowering bulbs and late-flowering perennials. All have open, usually cup-shaped flowers, sometimes double or daisy-like with many petals. Depending on the type, they can be grown in borders, around trees and shrubs, or in containers.
