GENERAL DESCRIPTION

These Are Bare Root Perennial Plants And Not Flimsy Plug Plants.

“Aquilegia Mckana Hybrids” Are Tall Graceful Columbines And Are Heavy-Flowering, Large And Brightly Coloured They Also Cannot Be Beaten When It Comes To Vigor And Performance. They Are Knockouts When In Bloom.

In Spring They Put Forth Open Mounds Of Three Parted, Soft Green, Lobed Leaves. By Late Spring To Early Summer They Bear Tall Erect Stems Of Upward Facing Or Nodding Large Spurred Flowers That Are Strongly Bicoloured In An Array Of Colours. The Outer Petals Are Broad And Open And The Inner Petals Are Tubular And Have Long Pronounced Spurs That Hold Nectar For The Many Pollinators That Visit Them. Pretty Golden Stamens Extend From The Centre Of Each Flower. They Are So Beautiful They Sell On Sight.

“Aquilegia Mckana Hybrids” Grow Best In Full Sun To Partial Shade And Fertile Well-Drained Soil That Is Evenly Moist. The More Sunlight The More Important It Is The Soil Has Available Moisture. They Can Be Short-Lived But Self-Sow Gently To Replace Themselves, Though The Seedlings Will Not Come True To Seed. Deadhead Spent Flowers Immediately If You Don’t Want New Plants To Seed In.

“Aquilegia Mckana Hybrids” Attract Many Pollinations And Are Pretty When Cut For Arrangements, Lasting Up To 2 Weeks In A Vase. These Deer Resistant Perennials Are Terrific For Cottage Or Open Woodland Gardens And Mixed Flower Borders.
