GENERAL DESCRIPTION

These Are Bare Root Perennial Plants And Not Flimsy Plug Plants. The Main Picture Is A Stock Photo Only And Shows How The Plant Will Look When Fully Mature.

“Astilbe Fanal” Is A Stunning Herbaceous Perennial With Fuzzy Plumes That Appear In Summer On Slender Stems, Following The Emergence Of Frondlike Leaves That Unfurl In Spring. “Fanal” Is A Hybrid Favourite And Lengthy Bloomer That Produces Intense Garnet-Red Plumes In Summer. These Vivid And Feathery Crimson Spires Grow To At Least 12 Inches In Length, Fading In Autumn To A Rusty Brown Colour. The “Astilbe Fanal’s” Old Foliage Is Best Left Uncut During The Winter Months. This Will Protect The Plant From Weather Damage. The Foliage Also Looks Striking In A Snowy Landscape. In The Original Greek, “Astilbe” Means Without Brilliance, An Ironic Name For Such A Dazzling Plant.

“Astilbe Fanal” Has Received The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award Of Garden Merit (Agm) Which Is For Plants Of Outstanding Excellence.

Take Advantage Of “Astilbe Fanal’s” Beauty By Planting It As An Accent Piece Along Shaded Garden Borders, Next To Hosta And Border Phlox. Even On Its Own The “Fanal’s” Garnet Red Blooms And Lacy Bronze- Green Foliage Is Very Fetching. The Astilbe’s Crown Has A Woody Appearance. Soil Should Be Fertile, Moist And Well Drained. The Fanal’s Roots Are Shallow And Its Crown Will Become Exposed Over Time. When This Occurs, Crowns May Be Covered With Soil And Compost Or Divided And Replanted. They Should Be Divided Every Three To Four Years To Keep Them Strong And Blooming.
