GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Please Be Aware These Bulbs Are Only Tiny 5/6 Compared To The Much Larger “Camassia Leichtlinii” Of Which Ours Are A 14/16.

“Camassia Quamash” Is A Hardy Perennial From The Northwestern United States And Southern British Columbia. “Camassia Quamash” Bears Steepled Clusters Of Starry Vivid Blue Flowers Atop Tall Leafless Stems In Early Summer. Its Cultivar “Blue Diamond” Has Deep Blue Flowers. The Clumps Of Strap-Shaped, Keeled, Green To Gray-Green Leaves Go Dormant In Summer. The Leaves And Stalks Grow From Bulbs With Dark Tunics.

The Flowers From This Camassia Drop From The Lower Part Of The Flowering Spike First, But Their Stalks Remain To Create A Spidery Ladder Beneath The Last Of The Starry Blooms. They Are Striking Plants When In Flower, Very Long-Lived And A Perfect Choice For Naturalizing In Long Grass And Wild Flower Gardens. Plant In Large Drifts So Their Tall Slender Stems Of Star-Like Blue Flowers Can Make A Strong Impact. The Flowers Are Good For Cutting.

They Grow And Flower Best In Full To Partial Sun In Well-Drained Soil. Though This Plant Prefers Steady Moisture In Late Winter And Spring. Narrow In Stature, It Looks Better Planted In Groups. Given Favourable Conditions And Left Undisturbed, Large Camassia Persists And Increases For Years. Pair It With Plants Such As Hardy Geranium That Will Cover The Withering Leaves. Let The Leaves Start To Lose Colour Before Cutting Them Back... Blue Flowers In May On A 90cm Tall Stem.

Plant The Bulbs 15 CM Deep 23 CM Apart In Groups Of 5 Or More
