A Herbaceous Perennial That Grows From A Large Fleshy Skunk-Scented Bulb. It’s Native From Iran To The Near East. Sturdy Erect Stems With Numerous Horizontal, Lance-Shaped, Grey-Green Leaves Break Ground In Late Winter Or Early Spring. The Waxy Leaves Twist Like Propeller Blades. The Stems Terminate In A Long Conical Cluster Of Drooping Ivory-White Bell-Shaped Flowers.

“Fritillaria Persica” Has Received The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award Of Garden Merit (Agm) Which Is For Plants Of Outstanding Excellence.

“Fritillary Persica” Has Been Grown In Cultivation In Europe Since The 16th Century, When It Was Introduced From Turkey. It Grows Naturally From Turkey Through N Persia To Afghanistan, Pakistan And Kashmir, On Cliffs, Rocky Slopes And Among Scrub. The Persica Alba Ia A Recent Addition. A Large Clump Of These Stately Plants Is An Imposing Sight And Quite Undemanding Once The Bulbs Are Established And Makes An Eye-Catching Speciman In Mixed Borders. Bees Love Them. The Bulb And Young Leaves Have A Strong Foxy Smell.
