GENERAL DESCRIPTION

These are bare root perennials not potted plants

“Hosta Albopicta” Has Slender, Heart-Shaped; Creamy-Yellow Leaves With Dark Green Margins And Spikes Of Funnel-Shaped, Mauve Summer Flowers. The Margins Of This Vigorous, Yellow-Leaved Hosta Gradually Fade To Mid-Green. Best In Full Sun With Shade At Midday And Protection From Cold Winds. It Makes A Great Groundcover Plant For A Moist, Well-Drained Border.

The Genus Originates From Asia And Is Comprised Of Approximately 40 Species. Hosta Is A Clump Forming Herbaceous Ornamental Grown Mostly For Its Attractive Foliage.

Overall, Hostas Grow Best In Partially Shaded Sites And Tolerate A Wide Range Of Soil Types. Hostas Have Average Water Needs, But Prefer Even Moisture, Hot And Dry. Hostas Display Their Displeasure With Margin And Tip-Burns On The Leaves. Best Uses For Hostas Are In Shaded Perennial Gardens Or Massed As A Groundcover. “Albopicta’s” Foliage Brightens Up Shady Areas Of The Garden.

Care Of Bare Root Perennials

Remove The Plant From Its Packaging And Carefully Remove All Loose Packing Material. Soak The Roots In A Bucket Of Warm Water For About 30 Minutes. Examine The Root System And Trim Away Any Rotted, Mouldy Or Broken Roots With A Sharp Knife. Dig A Hole Deep And Wide Enough To Allow The Roots To Fan Out From The Crown At About 45º Angle.

It Sometimes Helps To Make A Cone-Shaped Mound Of Soil In The Bottom Of The Hole And Spread The Roots Around It. Remember The Crown Of Most Perennials Should Be Roughly Level With The Surrounding Ground. Cover The Roots With Soil And Press Down Firmly.Make Sure All The Roots-Especially Those Under The Crown-Are In Contact Wih The Soil. Water The Plant Well And Add A Layer Of Mulch (Soil Covering)
