These Are Bare Root Perennial Plants And Not Flimsy Plug Plants.
This Tall Garden Paeonia Produces Large Double Flowers Of White, Sometimes With A Hint Of Pink, In Summer. Like Most Double Paeonias, The Flowers Are Heavy And Should Be Staked To Keep Them From Flopping In Inclement Weather. It Is A Selection Of Paeonia Lactiflora, A Large Bushy, Tuberous Perennial From East Asia That Has Been Bred, Cultivated And Treasured For Thousands Of Years.
“Festiva Maxima” Has Received The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award Of Garden Merit (Agm) Which Is For Plants Of Outstanding Excellence.
The Large Showy Flowers Of “Festiva Maxima” Appear In Summer, Are Fully Double And White. Its Dark Green Leaves Have A Bold Texture. Paeonia Flowers Are Very Fragrant And Make Outstanding Cut Flowers.
Paeonia’s Are Easy To Grow And Are Best In Full To Partial Sun And Well-Drained Fertile Soil. The Tall Stems Of This Cultivar May Flop, If Not Staked. These Old-Fashioned Perennials Are Very Long-Lived And Have Been Known To Survive In Gardens For Over 100 Years. Plant Them In Foundation Plantings Or Any Floral Border. Paeonia Blooms Make Outstanding Cut Flowers.
