GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Please Make Sure When Buying These Bulbs That You Don’t Buy Too Small A Bulb Or They Won’t Flower, They Will Only Throw Green Leaves And Take 2-3 Years To Flower. Under A Size 10 Will Only Throw 30% Flowerage At Best. These Bulbs Are A Good Flowering Size And Come From Lincolnshire Where Most Of The English Daffodil Bulbs Are Grown

“Carlton” Was Raised Before 1927, But Still One Of The Most Widely Planted Daffodils, This Large-Cupped Hybrid Bears Its Large Flowers From Mid-Spring, Midway Through The Daffodil Season. The Six Wide, Oval, Sulphur-Yellow “Petals” Are Creased And Slightly Twisted. The Inner Three Often Have Wavy Margins. The Broadly Funnel-Shaped Corona Is Somewhat Darker Yellow Than The “Petals,” And Flares At Its Notched, Pleated And Ruffled Tip. The Slightly Nodding Blooms Are Borne Singly On Medium-Tall Nearly Knee-High Stems.

“Carlton” Has Received The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award Of Garden Merit (Agm) Which Is For Plants Of Outstanding Excellence.

Like All Daffodils “Carlton” Is A Superb Cut-Flower, In The Landscape, It Pairs Well With Species Tulips, Scillas, Muscari And Early Blooming Perennials And Shrubs. It Is Also Wonderful For Planting In Showy Masses.

These Are Some Of The Easiest Bulbs To Grow. They Prefer Full To Part Sun And Require Average Fertile Soil. After Blooming, It Is Good To Let Their Green Tops Photosynthesize To Allow Them To Store Plenty Of Fuel For Next Spring’s Display. Once Their Leaves Start To Turn Yellow, They Can Be Cut To The Ground. Divide Them In Summer If Bloom Or Vigour Dwindles. The Plants Are Deer, Rabbit And Squirrel Resistant.

Plant 15 Cm (6”) Deep And 5-10 Cm (2”-4”) Apart 15 Cm-22 Cm (6-9”) Per Sq Ft
