All Are Grown For Their Fantastic Flowers That Are Typically Large Amaryllis-Like And Colourful. Most Species Are Native To The Subtropical And Tropical Regions Of Central And South America And The West Indies.

The Dark To Medium Green Strap-Like Leaves Grow From A Large Bulb. The Funnel-Shaped, Horizontal To Somewhat Nodding Blooms Are Borne Atop Stout, Leafless, Knee-High Stems In Four-Six-Flowered Clusters. Bulbs Typically Produce Two Flower Stems At A Time. These Bulbs Are Conditioned To Flower In Winter. The Flowers Are Followed By Large Lobed Seed Capsules.

For Indoor Forcing Plant 6-8 Weeks Before You Want Them To Flower. Before Planting, Pick Off Any Dead Or Damaged Pieces Of Root, Leaving Only Healthy, Fleshy Roots. Make Up A Compost Mix Using Equal Parts Of Peat And Perlite. Half-Fill A Plastic Pot 2.5 CM (1”) Wider Than The Bulb, With The Compost Mix And Add Compost Around The Roots So That One-Third Of The Bulb Shows. Water Well And Let The Soil Drain. Never Leave Pots Standing In Water. Begin Feeding As Soon As The Shoot Appears And Continue On A Weekly Basis Until Flowering Is Over. Water Plants As Required. They Can Be Put Outside Once All The Frost Has Gone
