GENERAL DESCRIPTION
“Puschkinia” Is A Small But Showy Bulbous Perennial That Blooms In Spring. Each Bulb Produces Two Strap-Shaped Upright Leaves Soon Followed By A Flower Stem Bearing Up To 10 Bell Shaped Flowers. The Flower Petals Are Bluish White And Have A Blue Stripe Down The Centre.
Originating In The Eastern Mediterranean. It Was Named After Count Apollo Apollosovich Mussin-Pushkin, A Russian Chemist Who Collected Plants In The Caucasus And Mt.Ararat Regions, Which Is Probably Why It Is Called Russian Snowdrops. Also They Are Sometimes Called Striped Squills. They Enjoy Moist Conditions While Still Growing. They Are Trouble Free.
Puschkinia Grows And Flowers Best In Full Or Partial Sun On Average Well Drained Soil. It Will Grow And Multiply Under Shrubs And Trees Because It Goes Dormant Before They Block The Sun. Plant En Masse In Woodland Edge Or In Clumps In The Rock Garden. It Will Flower In Containers, Patio Tubs And Window Boxes And Also Pots.
Plant The Bulbs 5 Cm (2”) Deep And Leave 5-7 Cm (2-3”) Between Bulbs.
