GENERAL DESCRIPTION

“Sedum Telephium” Is A Popular Garden Perennial Because It Is Beautiful And Virtually Indestructible. If Given The Right Growing Conditions. It Is Valued For Its Late Season Of Bloom And Striking Burgundy Foliage That Appears Almost Black In A Certain Light. In Late Summer To Autumn, Strong, Upright Stems Support Broad, Rounded Clusters Of Flowers. These Are Small, Numerous, Star-Shaped Red-Purple Flowerheads Appear Above Succulent Leaves. “Purple Emperor” Is Herbaceous, So Its Foliage Dies Back In Winter, But The Dried, Brown, Upright Flower Heads May Be Left To Provide Winter Interest.

“Sedum Telephium” Has Received The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award Of Garden Merit (Agm) Which Is For Plants Of Outstanding Excellence.

“Purple Emperor” Is Best Growing In A Full Sun Location With Average Garden Soil And Good Drainage. It Looks Great When Planted In Masses With Autumn Blooming Composites And Ornamental Grasses. It Is A Perfect Filler Plant. It May Also Be Used In Large Rock Gardens. Sedum Flowers Are Very Attractive To Bumblebees And On Cool Autumn Nornings Can Often Be Seen “Waking Up” On Them. Butterflies And Ladybirds Are Also Attracted To Them. The Flower Heads Look Great Left During The Winter To Add Shape And Texture To Your Border.

DIVIDE PLANTS IN EARLY AUTUMN OR AS SHOOTS BREAK GROUND IN SPRING. DIVIDE EVERY 3-4 YEARS TO KEEP PLANTS VIGOROUS. PLANT DIVISIONS AT A FINGER’S-WIDTH DEPTH, PLANTS SET TOO DEEP WILL NOT FLOWER.
